The Student Society for Human Resource Management was born from the belief that student and practitioner interaction would be mutually beneficial and would aid in the advancement of the field of human resources management. The student chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign was initiated to provide opportunities for students interested in the field of human resources management to go beyond the classroom and learn first-hand from business professionals.
Goals of SSHRM:
- To provide balanced, meaningful programs that broaden members' understanding of the human resource management field in the business and professional world.
- To establish and develop contacts with human resources professionals and other executives, managers and labor professionals, especially with members of the Central Illinois Human Resources Group.
- To increase our membership potential by drawing upon colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Commerce and Business Administration, Institute of Labor & Industrial Relations, and other potential membership sources.
- To foster personal contacts and the exchange of information between SSHRM members.
- To network and build strong ties with alumni to aid members in their job search.
