The Labor Education Program (LEP) at the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations was formally started in early 1947. Working within the Institute, LEP is celebrating its 61st year of service to the state's labor movement and is the only state wide labor education program, serving over 2,000 union members annually. Labor education programs operate out of two primary offices, the Urbana-Champaign office located in the ILIR building, and the Chicago office. There are 3 faculty at each office, providing educational programs for union members. Most classes are held in the evening or on weekends in various locations around the state of Illinois. However, there are week-long residential summer programs held on the U of I campus. This year's schedule of programs and special events continues the tradition of high quality education that trade union memebers and working people from around the state have come to expect from our faculty.
